Register Your Tree /

Plant a tree?

If you've planted a tree in your yard or anywhere else in Providence, please register it with us so that we can count it toward our goal of 40,000 trees. The count includes all new trees, including those planted by the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program, other City street tree and park tree plantings, trees planted on new development parcels, even the tree you've planted in your backyard. Every tree contributes to our urban forest, and should be recognized! We'll send you a small token of our appreciation.

Guidelines:

  1. A new tree must be at least 4 feet tall in order to be counted.
  2. The trees must have been planted in 2008 or later. We are counting trees planted in spring 2008.
  3. Do not register a tree planted through the Providence Neighborhood Planting Program. These trees have already been counted.
  4. Do register a tree if you purchased it through the Trees 2020 program.

Tree Planting Facts:

  • Trees 2020 hopes to sell 500 trees through its homeowner purchase program in fall, 2008.
  • The Providence Neighborhood Planting Program has planted over 7,000 street trees since its inception in 1989. In 2008, 436 street trees were planted via PNPP.
